Four months old!

The doctor appointment went well on Friday. It broke my heart to see her getting her shots but I was strong and only got a little teary eyed. The doctor thinks she is doing great and is cute as can be! Who wouldn’t think so though! She was sure being quite the charmer for Dr. Morris and the nurse! She is 12 pounds 8 ounces which puts her in the 25th percentile for weight, 25 ½ inches long which puts her in the 90th percentile for length and her head is 15 ¼ inches which puts her in the 10th percentile for her head. Her percentiles for weight and head have stayed the same but she went from 75th to 90th percentile for length! We are going to start her on rice cereal at 5 months, she had thought about starting her now to see if it would help with the spit up but she really prefers to wait until 5 months. We won’t start baby food until 6 months so I didn’t even ask my long of list of questions for that yet. I figure we will wait until our 6 month check up for that because I was already in brain overdrive with just cereal questions! We are trying her on Zantac to see if that will help the spit up but she has been on it since Friday night and I don’t see that it is helping so I will give it a few more days and then call the doctor back. It almost seems that it is making it worse. The doctor also recommended that we stop swaddling because she is so active when she is lying down and playing and sucking on her feet. We are trying to do it gradually so we started out Friday night with one arm out of the swaddle. It is actually going pretty well. It takes a little bit longer to get her to sleep once we lay her down but then after a few wake ups she is out for the night. Last night she went to bed really easily so I think she is getting used to the one arm out.

Mattie rolled from her stomach to her back a few times this weekend! She is still working on back to stomach but she will get it in time. I think I am okay with her not doing it yet because once she gets that we will have to completely stop the swaddle. So at least we can do it gradually for now!

I will try to get some pictures up to.

17 Weeks!

Mattie is 17 weeks old today and this Friday she will officially be 4 months old! What a big girl! This past week Mattie has been blowing raspberries like crazy and she thinks she is quite funny! She really hasn't been talking as much this week because she is too busy blowing the raspberries. She has also started blowing them when she spits up which makes a huge mess! I have had spit up in my hair and on my face a couple of times! She is also trying so hard to roll over. She hasn't quite got it yet but not because of lack of effort on her part! She has actually been waking up the past two nights and being very restless. Well last night when I heard her on the monitor I went in to check on her and realized it was because she was trying to roll over. I have a feeling our swaddling days are coming to an end:( That should make for some restless nights and this is why I am not pushing TOO hard for the rolling over! Oh and my mom and my sister have both found ticklish spots but of course she wasn't having it last night when I tried to tickle her for Matt.

Here is Mattie playing in the exersaucer my sister is letting us borrow.

Mattie having tummy time! She is holding her head up so good.

More cuteness!

Here are a few more pictures from the last week just to add to the cuteness of this blog!!

This is her playing in the bumbo.

Here are some pictures of her before church last Sunday.

That is all for now, I am sure that is about all the cuteness this blog can handle for now!

16 Weeks!

Where is time going? Everyone said how fast time would go but I really didn't want to believe them. I am so excited for Mattie to get big and see how she develops but I love her being small and being able to hold her!

A few things from the past week.

Mattie started sleeping in her crib last Friday and has done so well since going in there. I figured out for me to get a better night sleep with her in there I would put the monitor by Matt so that I am not woken up with every little sound. It is working out well. Just another sign that my baby is growing up!

Here is Mattie when she was eating one day. She was holding onto her bottle tight! She didn't want me to take it away to burp her. She is too funny.

Here are some pictures of Mattie when she finally got her toes in her mouth. She has been playing with her feet for awhile and has been trying to get them in her mouth without success. Finally this weekend she did it!

Here are a couple of pictures from yesterday too that I was surprised to see when I turned on the camera! My sister took them while she was watching her yesterday! I like for her to take pictures so that I am not missing out while I am away from her all day.

Yesterday

A year ago yesterday Matt and I found out we were having a baby! Here is part of an e-mail I had sent to my sister about taking the test and everything! We never would have thought that this would have been our month since I had bloodwork done and it came back saying I hadn't ovulated. Obviously God had a plan for us and it was to be pregnant at this time! We are so blessed to have a healthy beautiful baby girl!

So usually I start spotting about a week before I am due to start and I hadn’t so I was talking to one of my friends here at work yesterday about someone else in the lab who might be pregnant. Everyone says it happens in 3’s here in the lab so I was thinking hmmm maybe I am one of the 3 this time. So I was going to test this morning but last night I just decided to go ahead and do it. I told Matt I was going to do it and he was like ok. Not really getting his hopes up or anything. So I was in the bathroom and it came up pregnant pretty fast and I just started laughing and saying oh my god over and over again. Matt was like what, what’s going on. So he came in and looked at it and looked at me with a huge smile on his face. He was like do you think it is right. He was saying do you think you should take another one just in case but he didn’t really want to spend the money on another one go figure. So we went to Gordmans last night and bought each set of parents a grandparents frame and went to Party America and bought a pink and blue balloon and tied it to the frame and wrote on there Baby Zils Estimated Due Date April 12, 2009. We went to mom and dads and we figured mom would be in the family room and we would put it in the living room and have her come look outside but she was in the kitchen unloading the dishwasher so I made Matt stay outside and she was like what are you doing, who’s outside, what are you up to and again I was just laughing so I had Matt come in and she was like what? I don’t think she believed us at first and then she started crying which made me cry. So I made Matt take me to Dairy Queen for a peanut buster parfait and we went and bought two more tests at moms request. I tried to take another one last night but it didn’t work because I didn’t have to go to the bathroom enough. I took another one this morning and it said pregnant again.

On another note, Mattilyn turned 15 weeks old yesterday! She is getting so big and everyday it just amazes me to watch her and see how she is developing.

Matt starts the academy for his new job on August 13th. He is excited and Mattilyn and I are even more excited to have him home all night for a few months! We are going to get spoiled.
